PDF Mind, Brain, and Free Will

Book description

I wrote a longer review here. The book has a number of flaws. The problem isn't that the views that Swinburne defends are implausible, it's that he adopts a problematic framework for discussing issues in the philosophy of mind, one that prevents him from formulating a coherent version of token physicalism.I don't think anyone actually working in the philosophy of mind will get much out of the book. I don't think it's written in such a way that it would provide a good entry into the literature for non-specialists.My advice would be to skip this book entirely and read Helen Steward's work instead.
